Project 1 (a) : Analyzing spatial poetics & spatial typologies in architecture
Objective
The main aim of Project 1 is to introduce different spatial typologies in architecture, and how they inform spatial use and experience through precedent studies. Working in groups, you are to analyze and compare 2 selected architectural precedents.
Project 1 (b) : JOURNEY OF THE 5 SENSES
Objective
Explores spatial typologies and poetics through the design of a simple space within a hypothetical site.
Project 2 (a) : GENIUS LOCI
Objective
To identify and analyze the site context for design exploration. In groups, carry out a thorough research
and site analysis.
Project 2 (b) : SITE RESPONSE AND DESIGN CONCEPT
Objective
To develop a strong, individual design concept grounded in a personal site response derived from the information gathered in groups via Assignment 2a
Project 3 : VISITOR INTERPRETIVE CENTRE
Objective
The purpose is to showcase interpretive material related to the context/place. The project should apply the knowledge gained from Project 1 and 2, particularly organizing and articulating spaces and the sensuality and poetics of space to inform user’s experiences within the architecture.
